To honor 75 years of Community at Marsh Chapel we invite you to share your personal stories about how the community at Marsh Chapel has made a positive impact on your life. Capturing your stories will inspire and shape the future of our work and ministry.
1. Plan what you are going to say.
1. Plan what you are going to say.
Please include the following information:
- Your name (First and Last);
- Your connection to Marsh Chapel (Are you a student? Alum? Chapter member? Radio/Livestream listener/watcher? Did you get married at Marsh Chapel?)
- Start your reflection/personal story by finishing one of these sentences:
- “Marsh Chapel is __________________”
- “The Marsh Chapel community _________________”
- Tell your story of how Marsh Chapel has positively impacted your life.
2. When you press "Record Video," PAUSE, take a deep breath, and begin your message clearly. Limit your reflection to 5 minutes maximum. When you're finished, submit the video, and we’ll confirm that we’ve received it via email.
Thank you for supporting Marsh Chapel by sharing your story! It means so much to us to hear from you! All or part of your story could be used in Marsh Chapel media online and as part of a larger video presentation for the 75th anniversary of Marsh Chapel.
For questions, please email chapel@bu.edu.

Recording Tips:
- You can record directly to ThankView on your desktop or mobile device.
Make sure to film horizontally so you fill the frame. - When recording with a phone or tablet, use a tripod or prop it up with something like books for stability. Try not to hold it.
- Keep your device close for good sound quality but far enough away that you are the focus. Try 3-4 feet.
- Consider shooting in a location your recipients may recognize.
- Choose a location that provides balanced lighting. Try to find a room that has a lot of natural light.
- Record with the window facing you so you benefit from the natural light. If the window is behind you, you will appear shadowed.
- Choose a flattering angle for your recording. Shooting from below is not usually a person’s best angle.
- Avoid echo chambers. Oftentimes sparse offices or conference rooms with glass walls can create a lot of echoes.
- Avoid blustery locations or areas with a lot of foot or vehicle traffic as your device’s mic may pick up noise.
- Avoid wearing something extremely bright as it will wash you out on camera. Also, make sure it’s something you won’t regret in six months!
